| PADI Open Water Certification Courses
A life time of adventure awaits you. The PADI Open Water Scuba Certification course opens the door to a world of exploration and discovery beneath the oceans of the world. Gregory McGrath is a PADI Master Scuba diver trainer with 22 years of instructional experience helping divers explore the world underwater. In addition to instruction, Mr. McGrath is a former dive safety officer who continues to dive professionally as a scientific diver, search & recovery diver, and professional treasure salvager. His experience ranges worldwide from the life rich local waters of Cape Cod, and the US East coast, to the exotic tropical waters of the south pacific. This course features a limited class size (6 persons) that maximizes individual attention and student development. Comfort and confidence in the water, and the development of a solid foundation of core diving skills are the course goals. Students are asked to meet with the instructor briefly one week prior to the beginning of the course to review course materials and equipment, and receive their course manual, student folder, and DVD. All equipment, including mask, snorkel, fins, and wetsuit booties, will be supplied by the instructor, and sizing will be taken at this time. The class will meet on Monday night and Wednesday night for 5 weeks, with classroom sessions held on Monday nights and pool sessions on Wednesday. Attendance for all class dates is mandatory. At the conclusion of this course students will be prepared to take their open water certification dives. These dives are not included in this course, but can be arranged with the instructor, or with any PADI instructor world-wide. Open water dives are $120.00 for all 4 dives plus the cost of equipment rental ($90.00). Open water dives are scheduled locally throughout the spring, summer, and fall seasons. After completion of these dives, the student will receive a PADI open water scuba certification, which is a lifetime scuba certification recognized world-wide.

Ok, maybe not wrecked, but rusty. There are many of us that know someone who used to dive, but for whatever reason hasn’t done it in a while and is not comfortable jumping right back in. Generally, we call these people “smart”. It shows good common sense, and good diving sense, to be cautious after being out of the water for a bit of time. On May 8 & 9 Aqua Center will be offering a weekend long program to clean up the “rust” and refresh basic scuba skills. The program will consist of two lectures and four dives designed to review and refresh basic scuba skills. This program will accommodate a variety of needs and is for those wanting to do a simple refresher after the winter season, as well as those who want a more comprehensive review after a longer time out of the water. The key to the weekend will be the opportunity to do four staffed dives with ample chance to ask questions and review skills. Instructors and divemasters will run skills reviews, guide dives, and provide ample opportunity to ask questions. This is designed to be an enjoyable week-end of diving in a relaxed, fun, atmosphere that gets divers back in the water and feeling comfortable. The two-day, four-dive format gives divers plenty of opportunity to get wet and get comfortable in a no stress environment, and meet a few new dive buddies along the way.
Saturday - Will feature a lecture highlighting the basics of equipment preparation, assembly, and dive planning, and two fresh water dives. The freshwater dives will be held at Snake Pond and divers will have the chance to participate in full skills reviews, or just go diving with a dive master or instructor.
Sunday - Will feature two ocean dives at Sandwich Town beach, followed by an informal cookout lunch and review of equipment break down, care and maintenance. The weekend will conclude with a review of the dive tables and dive table procedures, and an overview of dive computer use.
